The research was about a microsensor-based prototypal diagnostic device for <strong>detecting Xylella fastidiosa on the olive trees<\/strong>. Pathogen afflicts the trees of the Salento area, with rapid analysis times. This is an important first step towards <strong>in-situ diagnostics<\/strong>, as a valuable tool in the hands of industry experts for field analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Xylella Fastidiosa detection<\/strong> is usually performed using <strong>laboratory techniques<\/strong> (<strong>Elisa<\/strong> and <strong>Pcr<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Serena Chiriac\u00f2, CNR researcher, says &#8220;the two traditional methods have been compared with the new test developed, <strong>new test was<\/strong> <strong>developed on electrochemical biochips<\/strong>. Results are comparable to those of traditional tests, but with significant costs and time spent for analysis advantages&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The development of new diagnostic techniques &#8211; commented Andrea Luvisi, a University of Salento researcher &#8211; is a useful <strong>monitoring resource<\/strong> and an essential <strong>containment of the epidemic<\/strong> activity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Authors of the publication explain that his work is the result of a solid collaboration between the University of Salento and the Cnr Nanotec. This collaboration allowed a strongly interdisciplinary team composition, with the presence of pathologists and plant physiologists, biologists, biotechnologists and physicists. These have worked together to create an <strong>innovative biosensor able to detect the presence of the phytopathogen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dispensadeitipici.it\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNR-LEcce-studio-xylella-min.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3597 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/dispensadeitipici.it\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNR-LEcce-studio-xylella-min-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dispensadeitipici.it\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNR-LEcce-studio-xylella-min-300x148.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dispensadeitipici.it\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNR-LEcce-studio-xylella-min-400x197.jpg 400w, https:\/\/dispensadeitipici.it\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/CNR-LEcce-studio-xylella-min.jpg 685w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>lab-on-chip<\/strong> realized includes a microfluidic module allowing to perform analysis on small sample volumes. Its performances are competitive compared to conventional diagnostic methods.
